Free Pattern: Flower Children Garden Sprites!
These garden sprites are available for free in the May 2020 issue of Knotions Magazine! The theme for this issue was “Flora & Fauna,” which inspired me to design some flora that are also fauna.
Flower Children are sprites that live in your garden who have dedicated their lives to keeping plants healthy and beautiful. They are so dedicated, in fact, that they sometimes come off as quite fierce, chasing snails, slugs, and all manner of pests away! But there’s no need to fear these little creatures; you can make fast friends with them by sowing seeds, watering plants, and picking up trash when you find it.
I know I spend a lot of time writing about animals in the natural world, but I also really love fantasy and mythological creatures. As with the Slipper Monster, it’s been a lot of fun to dream up magical creatures of everyday modern society. It makes me laugh to think about the little imps that are responsible for flat tires or the spooks that haunt the frozen food section at the grocery store. (Or, of course, the warriors in your garden and the helpers in your home.) It makes the mundane have a just a bit more sparkle.
I hope you enjoy knitting these! If you’ve got a moment, please favorite the pattern on Ravelry. It helps me out :)
